Uh Oh! The NHL has a major problem on their hands at the moment. As of now, the players union is very far away from agreeing to a new contract which means that a lockout is soon to come. So far, the NFL and NBA have had similar circumstances in the past few years leaving the NHL fans to believe that it can happen to their sport this year. The NHL have had lockouts 3 times since 1992 , most notably in 2004-2005 season which was stopped due to a non agreement with the players union. I remember that lockout and it definitely had a major effect of every sport showing what could happen and since then it has. The deadline…12 midnight. It is definitely approaching fast and that puts a lump in the throat of the players. Also an unthinkable amount of money will be lost if a lockout were to happen. I sure hope something happens tonight but until then the season is in jeopardy. Thanks for reading!
Finally, the Los Angeles Kings have won their first Stanley Cup in the organizations 45 year history. Game 6 was a huge one as the series shifted back to LA where the excitement built-in downtown. The Kings had their chances in games 4 and 5 and couldn’t pull the trigger. Unlike those games, tonight was their night and they certainly deserve it. The LA kings are now at the top of the NHL and hockey “royalty”. This team needed to win to prove that they could do it eventually. Now to the game! I mean what a way to start a game scoring 3 goals in just the first period. Those goals were scored by captain Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter, and Trevor Lewis. Now in the second period, they stayed strong and Carter scored again which made the deficit 4-0. The Devils knew they were in for a long night but they did manage to score one goal in the second period so they wouldn’t get blown out. The game went on to being a complete scoring fest and ended on two easy goals by the Kings to finally clinch that hockey jewel know as “Lord Stanley’s Cup.” The quest was over as we wait to see who will win next years cup. For now, the LA Kings will celebrate and enjoy it while it lasts.
Personally, I was raised in southern california and besides the Anaheim Ducks, the Kings were my favorite team. I always wondered how they never won a cup with Gretzky but I guess they didn’t need one until now. I am very surprised that the Devils didn’t give them a run for their money until games 4 and 5 but the Kings still kept strong. Overall, the KIngs finally have a cup and I am happy for them.Thank you for reading my post and have a great day!
Game 4 was certainly a gut check for the Kings as they lost 3-1 to get sent to New Jersey to try and finish off the Stanley Cup Finals in game 5 tonight at 8ET. This game should be spectacular as the cup will be on the line and in the building. I think that New Jersey will come out fast with some hard hits to show they are there to play. New Jersey in my mind has a 30% chance of winning tonight. On the other hand, L.A. is a very tough team and are undefeated on the road in the playoffs this year which shows they can tune out the crowd and go for the cup. At the sound of the horn , I have to pick the Los Angeles Kings to take the Stanley Cup back to LA for the first time in the teams history. I could be wrong but we will certainly find out tonight at 8ET so tune into NBC for a extraordinary game.
