Heat Take It All!

0

Well, the NBA season is finally over after a star-studded NBA Finals that the Miami Heat came out victorious. The big 3 won their first championship after last years heartbreak and Lebron finally got a ring. 2012 is definitely a year to remember in basketball as the season was in jeopardy before the bargaining agreement was passed. The shortened 63 game season was a short one leaving Lebron the MVP once again and I guess he deserves it as he takes his team all the way. Of course the rest of team is not to be  under looked. Characters like game 5 superstar Mike Miller and game 4’s Mario Chalmers both chipped in to get the W. The series was one-sided as the Heat took 4 straight after game 1 to get the title. Well, game 5 was no different then the others as the Heat used the whole team to get the job done as Mike Miller hit 7 threes and the supporting cast got their share of points as well. On the other end, the defense was spectacular as blocks and steals racked up. For the Thunder and Kevin Durant, they watched the game drift away in the 3rd quarter to an astonishing 25 points. Lebron was actually clutch for once and had a triple double to back it up! The whole team seemed to mesh this time around and the Miami Heat win their 2nd championship in game 5 by a score of 121-106. I am sad to see the Thunder lose but Lebron finally did it . Until next NBA season..the Heat are champs. Thank you for reading and have a great night.

Dickey Dominates!

0

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is definitely having a Cy Young type of year. He is 11-1 and has thrown back to back one hitters which is a feat accomplished every 50 years or so. Dickey throws a knee shaking knuckleball and also has an arsenal of a decent fastball and a change-up. His presence on the mound this year is amazing as he puts up an average of 6 strikeouts a game. Dickey intimidates the batters because of his knuckleball and then he will fire a fastball over the heart of the plate to put you sitting back on the bench. So what makes him a Cy Young contender?  Lately, Dickey has not one but TWO one hitters and one of the lowest ERA’s in the game. If he continues, he could potentially have a 20 game season which puts him in contention for Cy Young with the likes of Clayton Kershaw. Overall, R.A. Dickey is definitely a force to be reckoned with within the rest of this year and maybe more. Just continue to watch him go for history and maybe even break down the barrier to get a no-hitter. Thank you for reading my story and check out others. Have a great night!

Hangin Up The Cleats

Today marked a day that the NFL will surely not forget as one of the greatest running backs of this generation retired from the league. LaDainian Tomlinson was certainly a big force for the Chargers in his prime and sparked their team in many regular season and playoff games. Tomlinson was a natural running back out of TCU and became an NFL MVP in 2006. His 11 year career was split between the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets. In his prime he was considered the most deadly running back in the league. He could break off for 70 yard TD’s or power through the line for a goaline touchdown. LT held single season records for TD’s and points and definitely had his share of hall of fame moments. Personally, I believe that he is a first ballot hall of famer and will be put down in the history books. He is 5th the all time rushing yards list with 13,684 and  had 145 touchdowns. After signing a one day contract with the Chargers, LT hung up the cleats as a Charger. His home was in San Diego and he was always supported by them. Overall, LT was one of my favorite players and I was shocked and sad to see him leave the game. His legacy is forever lasting. Thanks for reading my article and please check out others. Have a great day!

Brandon Roy: Working to Comeback

0

After former NBA all-star Brandon Roy decided to thrown in the towel on his injury ridden career, the league definitely missed his presence. Roy was a big part of the Trailblazers organization and carried the team on his astonishing performances.I was pretty sad to see such a great player have to leave because of his very bad knee condition and constant rehab stints. But recent news from twitter has Roy saying he is training every day and will try to make a comeback in the near future! Here are the exact words after a twitter user asked Roy a question everyone wants to know, “yes I’m preparing for a comeback. I’m training daily.” This provides a great story for an unbelievable comeback for the star out of the University of Washington. Roy was only partially into his career which leaves him young enough to make a try at coming back to the NBA. Roy is ineligible to return to the Trailblazers until 2015 but he can rejoin a different club I believe. I will report back whenever  news on this story developes. Until then, thank you for reading my article and have a great night!

Rookie Rating: Harper vs.Trout

0

This season is great one to see two amazing rookies go through the season battling it out for the rookie of the year. To my understanding, both Bryce Harper and Mike Trout are amazing prospects who can produce tremendous power at the plate. Both are outfielders as well and they are not to shabby in the field. Trout who is a year older at 20, was drafted at the 25 spot to the Angels in 2009. Harper as you all should know, was the number 1 pick for the Nationals in 2010 who is known for his towering shots in high school. Both have made their full-time MLB debuts this year. When it comes to batting average, Trout has a pretty decent looking .333 compared to Harper’s .302 so Trout has an advantage in batting. That is also backed up by his slugging percentage and other batting stats. Another thing that is setting the two apart is Trout’s speed. Both prospects are pretty fast, but Trout has stolen more bags this year because of his acceleration. Now on to fielding, where Trout only has one error compared to Harper’s 3 errors. If you count that then Trout has the edge once again. When you account both of those categories, I believe that Trout has a bigger upside despite Harper being more in the spotlight and being widley know in the league. Mike Trout will be a long time pillar in the Angels organization and Harper will hopefully do the same for the Nats. But if I had to choose a prospect, Trout would be my man because I’ve seen him play and he amazes me with his all around skill. Thank you for reading this post and check out others. Have a great day!

Manny Done Being Manny?

0

Is Manny Ramirez finally done with his tainted career for real? Yesterday, Ramirez politely asked the Athletics organization for a release following the organizations decision to not call him up from Triple A. The A’s decided to agree and let him go. In Sacramento he was sitting easy at a .302 batting average and ready for his call up. He has waited out his 50 game suspension which was supposed to be a 100 game for his second use of prohibited substances. All this set Manny back to a point where he had to set his priorities straight and get back to baseball. He was ready to be back in the majors but sadly didn’t get the chance to get back to the bigs. Personally, I think that he may be done with his long career and will call it for real in a few days. I may be wrong, but he certainly has to think it over if he doesn’t receive any offers. Overall, the Manny Ramirez saga may be over and we will find out soon. Thank you for reading my post and have a great day!

Basketball on an aircraft carrier?! Yes that’s right, a matchup has been verified for the 3rd  annual Carrier Classic on November 9th outside of Jacksonville, Florida. This years matchup is another good one between Georgetown and Florida. The Gators and Hoyas will certainly duke it out on the ship this year making the classic a good one. Even though this is a unique idea, it might end up getting old after a few more years. but I mean, how many times will you see basketball on a ship? It is a great game to go see a game and I am sure that tickets will be limited. personally, I can’t wait to see the game once again and it should be a great one considering these are both above average teams. What if there were more games played outside during the season? That would be an amazing idea for collegiate basketball as special events and unique ways to mix up the season. All in all, the Carrier Classic should be amazing and look forward for more progression in outdoor basketball in the future. Thank you for reading my post and please spread the word.

Kevin Durant: Mic Check

0

Late thursday night, after the Thunder lost 100- 96 to the Miami Heat in game two of the NBA Finals, star forward Kevin Durant was a little stubborn at the podium. As the press conference started, Durant seemed fine despite losing a close contested game. Yet the same question kept being asked about the questionable no call on the foul by Lebron on Durant which might have caused the Thunder to win. Nobody knows what would have happened but if the foul was called, Durant probably would sink the free throws to tie the game with 9 seconds to go. When KD drove to the lane after the quick inbound pass, Lebron tagged him not once but 3 times before and during his shot which he missed. The foul is very controversial because it is clearly shown in the replay. When asked, Durant simply said, “I missed the shot.” He was very direct with that statement and it seemed to me he was getting irritated very quickly. He kept repeating what he had said as kind of a form answer in a way. After all the media frenzy, I am pretty sure Durant was annoyed and now he has to face the Miami crowd in game 3. Until then, his head will surely be in the game and his mind in his own zone. Thank you for reading my article and please recommend it to others!

Tiger Runs With Pack

0

As Tiger Wood teed off thursday morning with a threesome of greatness including Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson, he had his head in the game ready to roar. Woods was a little on edge because he was playing at the deadly Olympic course in San Francisco. I mean who doesn’t have nerves when competing at the U.S. Open. After all, it is the national championship of golf. As Tiger began he was on his A game with 2 birdies in the first 5 holes. Woods quoted, ” I felt I had control of my game all day” which signifies he will certainly be in the race this weekend. He kept his game strong and ended up under 1 which is good for the starting day while leaving his 2 pairing mates in the dust. Tiger is on his way to a great weekend at the open and should be a legit contender when it comes to sunday. As it stands, he is tied for second with leader Michael Thompson 3 strokes ahead. Furthermore, look for Tiger to keep pace and do good in round 2 tomorrow. Till next time, thank you for reading and check out some other articles.

Dealing Picks

0

So recently the Charlotte Bobcats have been looking at trading their second overall pick for some decent to good players considering their terrible record last year. I believe that they would be better off using the pick to get a young player such as Michael Kidd- Gilchrist in the draft. Charlotte has certainly had some very bad luck with their horrid record and not getting the number 1 pick. Some say that Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden may be in question as trade bait. What could come out of that trade..we might never know but the Bobcats have nothing to lose and should take a risk. Trade possibilities are endless and who knows what Michael Jordan will pull out of his magic hat. Personally, I think this could get very interesting as the draft is coming up quick so I will definitely give a report once I hear one. Until then, thank you for reading my post and check out others. Have a great day.
