Rondo Out For Season

0

Looks like the Boston Celtics season just got harder as their point-guard Rajon Rondo is out for the season with a torn ACL. Rondo’s absence will definitely make an impact on how much productivity the Celtics have. Right now, he was the NBA’s leading player for assists per game as well as most triple-doubles this year. Boston coach Doc Rivers mentioned Rajon Rondothat the rest of team needs to show up to make up for Rondo which is needed if the Celts want any chance at making the playoffs. Right now, they stand at 21-23 and in 8th in the Eastern conference. It is time for them to step up and play some ball. As for Rondo , he has not yet scheduled a date for the surgery, but on average, a torn ACL takes up to a full year to recover from.Only time will tell as the future of the Celtics is in jeopardy.

Casting My Heisman Vote…

0

Early into the 2012-2013 college football season much talk is focused on who has a chance to win the Heisman this year. Contenders include Ohio State’s Braxton Miller and Stanford’s Stepfan Taylor. Much intention is focused on the Heisman because of the outcomes of past winners or even runner ups who became top draft picks. I believe the selection process is very simple in that the finalists are chosen because great performances or an amazing stat line. The way it should be run is that one player from each conference is eligible to win. Using that method seems to be more fair and equal then choosing 3 SEC players and 2 Pac 12 guys. I mean college football has had so much controversy in the past years that this change could the perception by the critics. Anyways, my ranting aside, I have an early season favorite that I would cast my vote on. This year my Heisman Trophy vote would go to Oregon’s De’Anthony Thomas because of his tremendous skill and his effort towards his team. Yes, it is a vote for a Pac 12 player, but he deserves the vote. Ending on this topic I would like to state that stat lines aren’t everything but as the season goes on Thomas’s will skyrocket even more which is why he is my main candidate.

Denver’s Huge Let-Down

0

Monday night came as a surprise to most as Peyton Manning played in his first Monday Night Football game in 2 years and failed to perform. The first quarter was a complete disaster for the Broncos as Manning threw 3 interceptions and the Falcons took advantage big-time. Definitely a game to forget for Peyton and the rest of the team. I mean an overall passing rating of 31.2 is down-right abysmal. Even Manning himself said, “Just a really rough start.” which barely scratches the surface of what happen monday night. After one half it seemed like the Falcons defense had Manning’s number but a slight comeback was in store. Towards the end of the game he drove down the field on an average drive that was capped off on a 2 yard rushing TD for Willis McGahee to get the score to 27-21. But yet again, Denver fell short and the main reason was Peyton Manning as he proved to be a huge disappointment. Stanford Stuns!

0

As the weekend unfolded, it was one to remember for the Stanford Cardinals athletic department. The Cardinals showed that they don’t need Toby Gerhart or last years #1 draft pick Andrew Luck. They showed that the team as a whole can provide a major show as they upset the #2 team in the nation USC 21-14. Offense was a huge component of winning Saturday nights game, as Stepfan Taylor ran for 153 yards with 2 rushing touchdowns while Josh Nunes worked at a great pace moving his team down the field. The Cards defense was stout holding senior Matt Barkley with good pass blitzes and amazing pressure on almost every play. Penalties also affected the game as USC gave up crucial yardage when the game was on the line. I definitely think that Stanford has what it takes to be in the top 10 in the nation. At 3-0, they have a good start for a run at the Pac 12 title and a definite chance to get in a good bowl. The team needs to keep their confidence and keep rolling. Gerhart had an era, Luck had an era, and now the whole team is going to show that they are ready to do the unthinkable. Stanford also have a few more tough matchups this season in Notre Dame and Oregon towards the second half of the season which could further show their prominence. All in all, watch out for Stanford as they rise to the top.

Play of The Day!

I chose this as play of the day because of the massive hitting shown by Golden Tate to protect his quarterback!

Chains Are Coming

Uh Oh! The NHL has a major problem on their hands at the moment. As of now, the players union is very far away from agreeing to a new contract which means that a lockout is soon to come. So far, the NFL and NBA have had similar circumstances in the past few years leaving the NHL fans to believe that it can happen to their sport this year. The NHL have had lockouts 3 times since 1992 , most notably in 2004-2005 season which was stopped due to a non agreement with the players union. I remember that lockout and it definitely had a major effect of every sport showing what could happen and since then it has. The deadline…12 midnight. It is definitely approaching fast and that puts a lump in the throat of the players. Also an unthinkable amount of money will be lost if a lockout were to happen. I sure hope something happens tonight but until then the season is in jeopardy. Thanks for reading!

Locker Gets The Nod

0

Well, Jake Locker’s time to shine has finally come and when the Titans season starts, Locker will be the man calling the plays. In only his second year, the Washington grad proved to the NFL he can be the “real deal.” So far in two preseason games he has completed 11 of 24 passes and shown skills such as escaping the pocket and very good accuracy. Last year brought a surprise as he was announced a backup to an aging Matt Hasselbeck but coming in as a backup in 5 games, he threw 4 TD passes and had a QB rating of 99.4. As the preseason continues the Titans can certainly change their mind but I think that would be a huge mistake because Locker is still young and needs to get more experience under his belt. With all the rookies getting to start this year, he should fit in fine against the competition and maybe give the Titans a chance to make the playoffs. Overall, Locker is one of my favorite players and I believe that he could make a major impact in the coming years. Congratulations to jake and his upcoming challenge and I wish him luck.

The Crown Finally Fits

0

King Felix has finally fulfilled his lifelong goal as he threw the 23rd major league perfect game and 3rd of the 2012 season. Perfection is one of the hardest things to do when it comes to baseball. Not only do you have to be precise, but skill and a lot of luck is required to get the job done. Hernandez went the whole game using his paralysing curveball and his amazing fastball. This lead to Felix striking out the side twice and racking up 12 strikeouts. The Mariners, who Perfectionare definitely aren’t the best offense in the game, scored only one run but in the end that is all they needed. After the game Felix said, “It was always on my mind, every game, I need to throw a perfect game.” That in itself shows a lot about Felix’s attitude towards the game. He is always ready to perform and I think that it was finally his time to shine. For the Mariners organization, this game means so much as it  is their first perfect game. The King has finally earned his crown and I bet it feels pretty good right about now. Thank you for reading my story and please recommend it to anybody.

Sayonara Suzuki

0

Yesterday marked an end of an era in Seattle as the long time face of the Mariners franchise was traded to the New York Yankees. Simply known as Ichiro in Seattle, Suzuki gave 110 percent for 12 long seasons as he tried to bring his team to victory.  Ichiro showed the MLB his raw talent for the first time in 2001 in his first week as a Mariner as he gunned down Oakland’s Terrence Long at third with a laser throw from right field. Safeco’s right field will forever be known as Area 51 where Ichiro roamed and made spectacular his plays. Personally as a life long Mariner fan, it frustrated me as I first heard the news because the Mariners are still acting as a mere farm team for the Yankees giving the likes of Randy Johnson and now Ichiro away. It is very  upsetting Mariner fans as they see one of the most influential Mariners of all time leave. The worst part came Monday night as the Yankees were in town which ment that Ichiro would be walking across to the other dugout to play his first game with another team besides the Mariners against them. The scene was all but familiar as he walked up to the plate wearing his new number 31. Seattle recognized his valuable service and gave him a standing ovation in which he bowed to the crowd. As I watched one of my idols walk up as a Yankee I got chills all throughout my body and then as the fans were watching, Ichiro struck a single for his first career hit as a Yankee. The night was certainly one to remember as his trade was out of the blue. I can totally understand why the M’s would do this because of salary cap room but for only two barely known prospects is down right gut wrenching. After all the excitement, I will still follow Ichiro until the day he retires which I hope will be in a Mariner uniform. Until then, Sayonara Ichiro, you did wonders for the Mariners and thank you for your service. Thank you for reading this article and please comment with your thoughts.

Rockets Get Linsanity

0

Just a short time ago, the New York Knicks reportedly declined their chance to match the Houston Rockets offer of 3 years, 25 million dollar deal for the Harvard grad. The Knicks decided to let Lin go and take their money somewhere else which shows that they believe the roster they have is good enough without him. As Lin rose to fame last season, his stock went up as teams from across the league were stunned to see a one time D-League player rise to the top news of ESPN. Houston obviously needs some upgrades as they try to court Dwight Howard among other stars. Linsanity should make some impact on the little known team if he can produce solid performences. New York might as well pursue better offers as they need to get good players to make it past the first round unlike last year. With the distraction behind them, the Knicks in my opinion should be contenders and the Rockets will have a slight chance of beating the western conference. Overall, the whole ordeal will blow over soon and the spotlight will be back to Howard which might involve the sneaky Lakers. Thank you very much for checking out this story please read some more.
